JUNIOR
WARDEN REPORT
Junior
Warden: Stephen Franklin
Thank
you for the privilege of serving as your Junior Warden this past
year. The Vestry members are a skilled, dedicated and prayerful
group. My time with them never ceases to give me an opportunity for
personal growth and the sharing of my talents.
The
year began with meeting after meeting; at times as frequent as twice
weekly. Why? We all know that before the harvest is the planting of
seeds. We often forget that before the planting can begin, the field
must be plowed; however, before that step, there are often large
rocks which much be moved. Because of where I grew up, I know that
those same rocks became the walls surrounding the fields. But more
importantly, those rocks were a vital part of the foundations of
barns and houses. During the early part of 1999, the Vestry was
building and re-building walls, and especially sound foundations. I
give thanks that I was able to be a witness to this amazing process.
The
Vestry's strength to persevere and succeed comes from the Lord -- of
course you knew that. But did you know that before EACH Vestry
meeting is a time of prayer, sharing and contemplation? By doing
this, we were much more able to work efficiently. It was because of
this practice that we were lead to hold Parish "Town Hall"
meetings. We share with each other, we share with you, because we
are all one.
Because
of you, there is a spring in my step as I arrive. Truly, there is a
new life at St. George's. Those who were silent are becoming active.
Others are exploring the range of their gifts. And, there are new
leaders emerging! This year as Junior Warden is best summed up in a
single word - JOY!
